Context

The Herchies and Masnuy-St-Jean libraries used very old management software, developed in DOS and run on Windows XP systems. The library director contacted us to modernize this software while maintaining compatibility with their limited technical environment, as they were unable to change OS.

Problematic

The existing software was no longer adapted to modern needs for libraries.

It was crucial to maintain existing data while ensuring a smooth transition to a new powerful tool.

Key features

The software had to integrate essential functionalities such as:

User management;
Management of fines and delays with automated generation of reminder letters;
Generation of statistical reports on books and users;
Management of works and loans;
Cross-consultation of catalogs between the two libraries;
Management and security of backups;

Solution

We have undertaken a complete rewrite of the software using the.NET 2.1 WPF technology, in order to offer a modern and intuitive interface, while maintaining compatibility with the existing infrastructure.

Drafting of the specifications: A detailed document has been drawn up, signed and validated by the customer.
